Pro Tip
I have a post wedding pro tip…
Stains from sugar (champagne, wedding cake, white wine, etc.) can show up clear until by some stroke of magic the stains oxidize and carmelize, turning into unsightly brown streaks all over your wedding gown.
I learned this the hard way this week.
Even if you dry clean your dress, it doesn’t get out all the sugar, and eventually your dress is, well, ruined. (Six months ago my dress had not a stain in sight).
My dress is currently with a specialist (a wedding dress preservationist specialist who is certified by some special association) for evaluation….but it’s not looking good.
Why does this even matter? I am never going to wear the dress again (aside from Mike’s and my plan to maybe finally take photos in San Francisco since we weren’t in love with how our first batch turned out but that could be out) - but I’m super upset by it. I feel stupid that this happened, but seriously I had NO idea clear stains could turn brown.
Let this be a lesson - get your dress cleaned for sugar post wedding if you want to preserve it!
Fingers crossed I get some good news this week.
